During induction week, we had to get into groups and explain our mood boards to each other.
This is Tina Pun, she currently has a background in hair. She would like to work with Alex Box and Prabal Gurung who Nepalese Fashion Designer. She would also like to travel the world.
This is Molly Haywood, she enjoys fashion and Avant Garde makeup. Her inspiration and who she would love to work with would be Alex Box, Pat Mcgrath and Vivienne Westwood. She would also like to work with Vouge.
This is Toby Oldfield, he likes to create shocking sfx work for music artists and videos which include blood and gore.
This is Greta Baranauskaite, she has previous experience working with Make up Forever. She likes to look at Pintrest and Americas next top model for inspiration and wants to study as much as she can. She would also like to own her own make up studio one day.
On another day of induction week we were asked to create a 'bag head' inspired by our mood boards and where we would like to be in 5 years. We were first shown a short film, filmed and edited by our tutor Sharon. This was showing different characters on bags. We had to take what we wanted to look like in 5 years and produce this onto a bag and take fun pictures with it.
For another task during induction, we needed to find and scout out West Quay Shopping Centre, The Mayflower Theatre and Southampton City Art Gallery and take selfies outside them!

We also had to go find and research 5 make up brands. Mac, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Benefit and Smashbox.
MAC
I like Mac make up because the make up is very good quality for the price you pay. The products are very long lasting and don't clog the skin. They have a wide range of products for every different skin type. The products are aimed at the general public but they do have separate shops for just professionals, this is called Mac Pro. Some of their Hero products are the lipsticks they sell, this is because they are moisturising and long lasting, also the colour pay off is excellent, You also get a lot of lipstick for £15.
LAURA MERCIER
Laura Mercier is a French Make up artist and business woman. Her consumers are the general public but the brand is highly talked about by professional Make up Artists. The Hero products for this brand is the Tinted Moisturiser with SPF 20 and The secret camouflage concealer.
BOBBI BROWN
Bobbi brown is a American Professional Make-up Artist who has her own make up line and has written books about beauty and make up. Her consumers are also the general public but once again her products are used within the industry and raved about by professionals. The top 10 hero products for this brand is 1.Long wear gel liner 2.lip colour 3.Corrector/Concealer 4. Smokey eye mascara 5.Bronzing Powder 6.Skin foundation sticks 7.Vitamin enriched face base 8.Pot rouge 9.Shimmer Brick 10. Long wear cream shadow stick.
BENEFIT
Benefit cosmetics is a manufacturer of cosmetics from San Francisco, California, These are mostly aimed at consumers like the general public and is one of the biggest beauty/ make up brands in the UK. The best selling/hero product is They're real Mascara being the UK's number 1 selling mascara. Their bronzer Hoola, is the UK's number one selling bronzer also.
SMASHBOX
Smashbox is a brand which started off being for professionals only, which specialised in photographic make up and techniques. It has now become a brand that is used still by professionals but is now available for the general public on the high street. Their number one product is their Photo finish foundation primer.
Illamasqua Talk and Demonstration
The workshop was very interesting and gave an insight into this amazing brand. Illamasqua is an independent British company who is not owned by a conglomerate unlike many other well known brands used in the Industry.

Spob and Charlotte explained about the brand and the new collection and some past ones too. Whilst Spob answered questions, Charlotte demonstrated a look that Illamasqua recently designed and produced at London fashion week for designer Sorapol.

For the second part of this afternoon with Illamasqua we had to create a one sentenced pitch and a make-up look to go with it. The idea was to keep it short and simple and to let the make-up do the talking. We decided to create a underwater Alien called Zora who was the main heroine in an upcoming film called the Abyss.
We used skin base for foundation, whilst using green, blue and gold shadows on the eyes, cheeks and to contour. We used these colours because they seemed to go with the underwater theme we wanted to achieve.
Charles Fox/Kryolan
We were lucky to have a talk from Charles Fox/ Kryolan in our induction week. Charles Fox bought Kryolan 65 years ago and now supplies to professional makeup artists across the world. It was first created by Arnold Langer in Berlin in which he was inspired by the 1920's glamour. Kryolan makes products for every make up profession such as, film, tv, glamour/beauty. sfx, camouflage etc.
