We were asked to gather a contemporary image and an Elizabethan portrait and compare the two.

The first image is an advert for the brand Givenchy. This promotional picture is selling their newest perfume, Dahlia Divin. The main reason I think this image has Elizabethan qualities about it is the fact the everything is gold. This is a royal looking colour and in most Elizabethan portraits they have gold somewhere. Just like in the image to the left this features a lot of gold, in the hair accessories, the clothes and even in the background, just like in the Givenchy campaign.
Both of the sitters look very important and both feature their hands, something that Elizabethans liked to do very much. There is also a lot luxurious fabrics featured in both of these images these also represented the class of the sitters and the wealth. Alicia Keys who features in the Dahlia Divin advert is a very well known singer and could be classed as a New Elizabethan as she is very influential to many people.
In my previous Job selling perfume and beauty products, I had to have training on this perfume and the background of the fragrance and the campaign. The dress was designed specifically for Alicia Keys and is one of a kind. This also shows wealth from the sitter.
Overall I think these two images have a lot in common and the Givenchy fragrance campaign has a lot Elizabethan influences featuring in it.
